Loggerhead Turtle Fine Art Print
LOGGERHEAD TURTLE
Turtles hold significant cultural importance across the globe, symbolizing longevity, wisdom, and stability.
In some cultures, turtles also represent fertility, resilience, and a deep connection to the natural world and ancestors
Loggerhead turtles can live for over 50 years and weigh up to 115kg.
These reptiles get their name from their oversized head, which looks like a big log.
In Australia, there are two unique breeding populations of loggerhead turtles on the Great Barrier Reef, and also off Western Australia.
Every two or three years, a female turtle may travel over 12,000km back to the beach where she hatched. It’s on this same beach that she lays her own eggs as an adult.
Loggerhead turtles can carry up to 100 species of small plants and animals on their shells which also serves as an important habitat.
Loggerhead Turtles are now listed as endangered as a result of bycatch – getting caught in fishing nets, eating plastic bags, straws and other human rubbish.
